Operation cleanup a hit

Members of the World Mission Society Church of God in Observatory took time out on Sunday last week to clean up three train stations on the Southern and Northern lines.

About 200 members consisting of men, women and youth were dressed in cleaning gear and armed with utensils such as rakes, spades, brooms and garbage bags as they sprang into action.
The members headed to the Belville, Observatory and Mowbray stations to do the cleanup.
On the day members from churches across Africa embarked on a cleanup operation.

"This cleanup is to display preparation for 14 November which has been selected as the new Jerusalem Day," says Alexander Rudniak, assistant overseer of the World Mission Society Church of God
"It's a special day for us and we wanted to clean up to show our acceptance for the day. We contacted Metrorail and asked them if we could go ahead with this cleanup operation and they immediately assisted us."
Briony Holmes, a member of the church, says that cleaning the stations is a form of preaching, which teaches them to be humble and love the days.
"
We are also cleaning because we believe the world should be cleaned physically. In doing this we are also showing people that we love and care about our environment. Previously we have seen how other people have also taken the initiative and cleaned the area and that's what we want, for people to work together."

Other members agreed on the day and said they loved doing it.
"We shine the glory of our heavenly Father," says one member.
Another said: "It gives us great pleasure to do this."
