A cast of volunteers ventured to the quaked hit eastern suburbs in a major cleanup exercise, their target a main street in New Brighton that has become overgrown and treated like a dumping ground as residents leave the area, Dave Goosling reports.

Dave
The mountains of mud and silt may be gone from the eastern suburbs, but there is still plenty of work to be done. politicians joined community leaders and churchgoers in an environmental cleanup along New Birghton Road.
Mayor Bob Parker also rolled up his sleeves and joined in, he said it's a gesture aimed at restoring some pride to the broken neighbourhood.

Bob Parker
We're still in the middle of this thing and public spaces in our streets often shake the way that we feel and when we're driving down a messy street we feel bad.

Nicky Wagner
If we can clean it up a bit so it looks spruced up and brighter and particularly at the beginning of a new year people will feel better about themselves and their communities.

Reporter
Weed eaters and mowers were hard at work clearing the heavily overgrown lawns and footpaths left behind by families who have moved out of the area.

Aaron Keown
Well today's cleanup starting to concentrate on abandoned houses that your starting to see as people seek the government payout and move on, of course it's not their responsibility anymore to look after their home and the community seem to be taking it on.

Reporter
The cleanup seemed to be welcomed by Burwood resident Nola McNally still waiting to move out of her home of 40 years. She says it can be depressing for those stuck here.

Nola
It makes it a bit more presentable and everything yes, everything got a bit shocking looking hasn't it.

Reporter
While the exodus is expected to continue, this morning working bees has at least helped remaining residents feel more positive about their immediate future.

According to the Church, the campaign was carried out simultaneously in 150 countries around the world to the purpose of protect environment and preparing the Passover scheduled on April 5th in 2012.
One-day clean-up campaign was carried out in Benito Juarez market and empty lot in Toluca. As a center base of Mexico City's commercial operations, this place is where tons of garbage and organic wastes are accumulated with lots of people commuting to make a purchase every weekend.
By leading of missionary groups of Church of God who came from Korea, the home of this denomination, the volunteers made an effort to collect every waste they found in the site of around 2 hectare by forming a huge human chain.
In the same time zone when volunteers carried out the one-day clean-up campaign in Toluca, another members from the World Mission Society Church of God in other cities such as Veracruz, Tabasco, Chiaoas and Cancun also participated in the clean-up campaign in the rivers, beaches, and oceans. They contributed to the environment to its reversion before the state of the pollution.
Deacon Emmanuel Hernandez from Church of God in Mexico explained that the campaign is to prepare the upcoming Passover on April 5th in 2012, as a part of purifying and saving the earth. In addition, he said Passover is the day we should share the bread and the wine which represent the flesh and the blood of God by celebrating one of the God's festivals that were kept among Jesus and His disciples.

[Australia News] Blood donation shares the love of Christ Ahnsahnghong

[Australia News] Blood donation shares the love of Christ Ahnsahnghong

Published on Dec 11, 2012
Blood drive is a valuable action to save one's life. The World Mission Society Church of God (Rev. General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol) which practices the love of Heavenly Mother is expected to campaign the blood drive with the purpose of saving one's life in danger due to the blood supply shortage.

Pascoe Vale based World Mission Society Church of God in Melbourne, Australia, said around 60 members are scheduled to South Bank where there is the blood donation center and campaign the blood drive on the Australian Day on 26th, Thursday. The campaign is a specially prepared event by World Mission Society Church of God to celebrate the sacred birth of Christ Ahnsahnghong who appeared as a second time to save all mankind.

A missionary from the Church of God in Melbourne, Australia stated the purpose of the campaign saying, "It is planned to save one's life dying of failing to get the blood transfusion and to solve the chronic problem of blood supply shortage in Australia." He also added, "The Second Coming Christ Ahnsahnghong came down to this earth to let all mankind receive the eternal life through the Passover the New Covenant." He said, "We hope the good news of God's coming to this earth also could be heard ."

According to a statistics research, one out of three Australian needs transfusion. However, only one in thirty people donates blood. The population participating in the blood drive every year is only 3 percent of the total population.

This campaign is expected to change the consciousness of people who have negative thoughts about the blood drive and to contribute greatly to expand the donor base and to change public perception of the blood drive. In addition, it is likely to solve the most urgent problem of the blood supply shortage and to save emergency patients needing a large blood supply.

"I have never participated in blood donation in my life. I was actually nervous at first, but now I am so excited and even look forward to it because I know it will greatly contribute to saving a precious life of someone." said Mignonne Malan (25) from the Church of God expressing her excitement regarding the blood donation. She also added, "I'm proud of spreading the love of God the Father Ahnsahnghong and God the Mother New Jerusalem." She said she would definitely join the blood drive on the 26th day of this month.

The World Mission Society Church of God also held a blood drive at NSW Red Cross Blood Donor Center in Sydney on January 6. Around 30 members of the Church participated in the event. One day before, on the 5th day of this month, their activities were broadcasted through the channel "Radio 2000. 98.5FM."
The World Mission Society Church of God originated from South Korea in the east from the ends of the earth and spread to the whole world. Based on the teachings of the Bible, the members of the Church believe in Christ Ahnsahnghong as the Second Coming Jesus, who restored the New Covenant truths that had been destroyed during the Dark Ages of the middle. The truths include the Sabbath day and the seven feasts of three times such as the Passover. They also believe in God the Mother who is the source of life and love.
On December 25, 2011 (the 1st day of the 12th month in the lunar calendar), they held a service for commemorating the 94th anniversary of the sacred birth of Christ Ahnsahnghong and have been carrying out environmental clean-up campaigns and sharing and voluntary services simultaneously around the world before and after that day. The Headquarters is located in South Korea. The Church of God has 2,200 Churches in 150 countries and the number of the registered members is around 1.63 million worldwide

It was same on Mar. 11th when the street clean-up campaign was held in around 1900 cities in 150 countries worldwide. The clean-up campaign held in Rotes Rathaus last year is to be carried out again in the neighboring areas in Rotes Rathaus. Anyone who would like to join this even can come to Hackescher Market train station by 1 p.m.
In addition, the World Mission Society Church of God is actively participating in the blood drive across the world. For the first time in Germany, the church's blood drive campaign was carried out led by the Church of God in Wilmersdorf.

On Jan. 30th, around 60 citizens visited Haema blood drive center in Wilmersdorf and joined the blood drive. By accepting the offer of Daniel Bahr, the Minister of Health and Welfare from FDP, appealing more blood donations, the church is also expected to implement the blood drive campaign in April. Deacon Julian George explained the blood drive metaphorically, saying "2000 years ago, Jesus Christ gave us the eternal life by His blood shedding on the cross. We can save others through the blood we donate. "

On that evening, the activity of church members attracted many citizens' interest and they even participated in this campaign voluntarily like Wilhelm Gebelein.

The head pastor Bong Hee Lee expressed his thanks beside the campaign car. There were many church members who participated in this event for the first time in their lives like Laura Rein. With a smiling face, Laura Rein helped Eric Lemann from Haema get the injection.

With a flushed face with excitement, Conrad Strathausen, a theology student who first participated in this event said, "God did not hesitate to shed His blood for us and neither do I. The Church is expected to donate the blood donor card as well as compensation for the public.

The World Mission Society Church of God was established by Christ Ahnsahnghong in Korea in 1964. Currently, there are around 2000 churches in approximately 150 countries with about 1600000 registered members. Through the charity concert for the earthquake victims in Haiti, they were attracted by the public and they also have donated around $100000 to UN.

Since then, the World Mission Society Church of God has been keeping the mutual cooperative ties with UN. In 2011, the US President Barak Obama awarded the church a prize in recognition of its contribution to the society

Dozens of people were outside on chilly Sunday working to make Albuquerque look a little nicer.
Volunteers with the World Mission Society Church of God[WMSCOG] spent a few hours cleaning up a stretch of the Rio Grande bike path.
Church members say they're inspired by the biblical story of the Good Samaritan, and wanted to do something good for their own community.
"We coordinated with the city council and they suggested this area for us, and they were very happy because this area was one they've wanted to clean up for a long time, but they could not find any volunteers to actually participate," Nick Hafen said.
Church members say similar clean-up projects are happening in about 150 countries.

[UK News] Clean-up prayers are answered!! - World Mission Society Church of God

[UK News] Clean-up prayers are answered!! - World Mission Society Church of God

Published on Oct 23, 2012
PEOPLE power saw 80 volunteers clean up Clarksfield as part of a worldwide campaign to rid streets of rubbish.

Members of the Trafford-based World Mission Society Church of God decided to lend a hand after reading in the Chronicle about reported litter problems in the area.

The mass clean-up comes amid fierce debate between Oldham politicians as to who is responsible for tidying our streets.

The Lib-Dems' alternative budget proposes employing two extra enforcement officers to tackle litter and fly-tipping and £135,000 for more Street Scene staff to keep Oldham clean.

But Labour councillors claim the tough financial position the council finds itself in does not allow the luxury of employing staff to clear up after residents — who should keep their own streets clean.

Complaints were raised by Councillor Lynne Thompson who reported Kelverlow, Goss Hall and Ronald and Eric streets as major hotspots. Councillor Thompson blamed a lack of council resources for the deteriorating problem.

Campaigners took matters into their own hands and headed to those streets where they felt their help would be most needed. Around 50 bin bags were packed full of rubbish in three hours. Delighted residents praised the volunteers on the good deed and invited them to "come round more often."

Others joined in with the clean-up. The volunteers, who pay for their own cleaning tools and transport to get around, have already tidied up areas of Manchester, Bury, London and Newcastle. They are carrying out the environmental campaign to cut pollution and to assist the underprivileged.

Lauren Webb, from the church, said: "When we see a problem area reported in a newspaper, we take it upon ourselves to carry out the mission to clean up that area."

The clean-up comes at a time when complaints have been made about cuts to Oldham Council's street-cleaning teams.

Council leader Jim McMahon blasted residents for not taking responsibility.

He said: "Some constituents expect us to start picking up after them. They think we should start with areas where residents don't look after their own streets. Do not attack the council for not taking action when you don't take your own."

Councillor Jean Stretton said there had been a slight increase in litter in certain hotspots of the borough which tend to be those with dense residential properties for obvious reasons.

There are 2,200 churches in 150 countries around the world, all participating in cleanups where they live.

Anchor : The World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) held the environmental education campaign this weekend. The work proceeded with cleaning around the empty lot between Ribeiropolis street and Porto da Folha street, and this event was held in over 2,000 countries around the world at the same time.

Reporter : There are a lot of bags full of garbage. A public health problem grabbed the attention of this church placed several meters away from here.

Rosangella Emanoela / Spokesman of the WMSCOG : We have to take care of our Earth for the future. So we always practice the love of God because Jesus helped the poor as an example for us when he came to this Earth 2,000 years ago. We spread the love of God by doing this little campaign.

Reporter : This kind of community working is a part of the environmental education.

Eliene Batista / Health worker of infectious diseases : I see lots of rubbish everyday while working. It causes dengue fever and many things happen. My job is to let people know, so I am really glad that the World Mission Society Church of God held this campaign to give more help.

Reporter : And a little 10-year-old boy, Guilherme has learnt this (environmental) preservation education properly.

Guilherme Santos / Student : We should clean up the world which God made.

Reporter : To be a better world?

Guilherme Santos : Yes, you are right.

Reporter : Also, the neighbor who is living near the empty lot appreciates carrying this event.

Luiz Bosco / co-ordination helper : I think it is a good example. Especially, it would be great if people living on this avenue keep the street clean and make the garbage bags not to be piled like they showed to us as a model.

[South Africa News] World Mission Society Church of God "Operation cleanup a hit"

[South Africa News] World Mission Society Church of God "Operation cleanup a hit"

Operation cleanup a hit

Members of the World Mission Society Church of God in Observatory took time out on Sunday last week to clean up three train stations on the Southern and Northern lines.

About 200 members consisting of men, women and youth were dressed in cleaning gear and armed with utensils such as rakes, spades, brooms and garbage bags as they sprang into action.
The members headed to the Belville, Observatory and Mowbray stations to do the cleanup.
On the day members from churches across Africa embarked on a cleanup operation.

"This cleanup is to display preparation for 14 November which has been selected as the new Jerusalem Day," says Alexander Rudniak, assistant overseer of the World Mission Society Church of God
"It's a special day for us and we wanted to clean up to show our acceptance for the day. We contacted Metrorail and asked them if we could go ahead with this cleanup operation and they immediately assisted us."
Briony Holmes, a member of the church, says that cleaning the stations is a form of preaching, which teaches them to be humble and love the days.
"
We are also cleaning because we believe the world should be cleaned physically. In doing this we are also showing people that we love and care about our environment. Previously we have seen how other people have also taken the initiative and cleaned the area and that's what we want, for people to work together."

Other members agreed on the day and said they loved doing it.
"We shine the glory of our heavenly Father," says one member.
Another said: "It gives us great pleasure to do this."

Lending a cleaning hand

Pollution is everyone's problem and that is why Metrorail teamed up with the World Mission Society Church of God to clean up rail.

About a hundred members of the congregation both young and old arrived to clean Heathfield, Diep River, Steurhof and Plumstead stations on Sunday 29th January.
Full of youthful energy the members cleared the stations and did a dance at each station.
Members of the public looked interested as members of the church picked up litter and placed a small hill of plastic bags at each station.
"Pollution is a global problem which needs everyone to collectively lend a helping hand. So when the church approached we were very happy because we need commuters and communities to help in the cleaning up of our rail lines," said Keith Edwards from Metrorail rail tourism department.
After realizing that the task was more than estimated the dedicated members will return to the station to do further cleaning.

They will come back on the 27 February to once again roll up their sleeves to cut grass, rid the station of litter and entertain commuter as they did on their first trip.
According to Alexender Rudniak from the Church of God, this was part of their "I Have Already Come" campaign.
"Metrorail needs volunteers to help out and by offering our services we can make a huge difference," said Rudniak. "We need organizations to come on board in the flight against pollution. Cape Town Tourism has also jumped in to assist as Cape Town is a focal point for the southern route," added Edwards.
Edwards said this is not the first collaboration between Metrorail and communities; "We encourage more communities to follow suit" he added.

Local politicians, volunteers and members of the Christchurch chapter of the Church of God have worked together to help tidy up their earthquake-hit community.

Pastor James Kim said yesterday's event was part of an annual environmental cleanup day, which also aimed to help lift the spirits of residents who had been troubled by the earthquakes.

About 80 volunteers tackled litter, mowed lawns at abandoned homes and cleared silt along New Brighton Rd.

Six local politicians also joined the working bee, which was "really great encouragement and inspiration", Kim said.

"It's good to take action, even if it's just a little step."

The continuing earthquakes had created a "very sombre" atmosphere in Christchurch and the church wanted to help make their community a more pleasant and comfortable area, he said.

"The people's hearts have grown weary, restless and stressed at the same time. Our church members [wanted] to bring a sense of belief and encouragement to the people of Christchurch by portraying and sharing the love of our Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother who are the source of love to our fellow neighbors."

The World Mission Society Church of God was founded in Korea in 1964 and today has 2200 churches in 150 countries around the world. Its Christchurch chapter was established in 2007.

The World Mission Society Church of God in Darkhan is reaching out a helping hand

[Mongolia]

The World Mission Society Church of God in Darkhan is reaching out a helping hand

 http://news.watv.org/press/content.aspgub=n&sec=%C7%D8%BF%DC&articleid=n20130107716&page=2

This Church was founded in Korea in 1964 and currently has around 2,200 branch churches in 150 countries around the world. And the Church has been spread to the world under the name of the World Mission Society Church of God. The Church of God started its activity in Mongolia in 2004 and in Darkhan-Uul Province in 2009 by obtaining official approval from the authorities. The goal of this Church is to preach the prophecies of the Bible with hard evidence and to communicate a wide range of information. Also, it gives faith of life, power and wish of escaping the pain and suppression of life. Furthermore, the Church has been conducting various voluntary services.

Some examples of the voluntary services of this Church include:

1.     On March 11, 2012, two tons of wastes were collected from 4,000 m2 streets in an apartment area of District No. 8, Darkhan-Uul Province. Some laborers of District No. 8 as well as 31 members of the Church participated in this clean-up campaign. The Church of God carried out clean-up campaigns in this district two times so far. The Church supported 33,200 MNT as the cost of banners, invitation cards, microphone batteries and film development.

2.    On April 29, 2012, more than 400 members participated in a campaign to clean up 6,000 m2 streets near Hara River, Darkhan-Uul Province. The Church of God supported 76,580 MNT to pay for banners, clean-up campaign preparation and meals. This voluntary service carried out in Darkhan was the ‘1,371st Worldwide Voluntary Service’ of this Church.

3.     On  July 25, 2012, the Church of God performed a blood drive in Darkhan Hospital. Twenty five saints joined in this blood donation drive. Non-saints also voluntarily participated in this event. Also, the Church spent 1,750 MNT on banners and meals.

The voluntary services of this Church have been carried out in 150 countries around the world including Mongolia. Currently, the Church of God has four branch churches in Ulaanbaatar, which have also conducted voluntary services and received various awards from the Ministry of Water Supply and the Ministry of Environment of Mongolia. The Church of God around the world has been united under the slogan “The Whole World with the Love of Mother,” and has been committed to set an example with good deeds to others and create a better life for future.

The World Mission Society Church of God has paid the taxes and social insurance costs regularly within the time for payment and has followed all applicable laws and regulations of Mongolia. Also, the Church participated in a forum for religious groups held at the Child Welfare Center on December 10, 2012.

The Church presented coal and firewood to its neighbors with a warm heart like the love of Mother. The Church of God in Darkhan supported 40 bags of coal and firewood to 10 households in commemoration of the Day of the New Jerusalem.

A warm breeze of love blows to a global village. A breeze of love which makes dying lives alive with the heart of Mother who cares for children and which gives hope to neighbors who are suffering from diseases. This love is essential for mankind of this age when people are getting hard-hearted due to disputes and antagonism.

It is the World Mission Society Church of God (Chief Pastor: Joo-cheol Kim), a global religious group, that causes this warm breeze. They has been conducting massive voluntary services around the world beyond borders and religions in commemoration of the ‘Day of New Jerusalem 2012’ and created a sensation.

“Celebrating the Day of New Jerusalem, we would like to spread the greatest love and good news of Mother who saves mankind.” The Church of God explained the purpose of the global sharing love.

The voluntary services in this round are intended to target the whole world as well as Mongolia. The World Mission Society Church of God has been carried out such activities as massive blood drive, clean-up campaign, briquette delivery, a party in honor of the aged and visit to a government office or organization, considering the special nature of each country or region and the needs of each local government or community.

On Monday December 31, 2012, the Church of God in Darkhan provided 10 homes in Darkhan-Uul Province with 20 bags of coal and 20 bags of firewood respectively.

The Mongolian winter is so unbearable cold that heating fuel is absolutely necessary. However, the fuel cost is expensive, which increases the burden on people in need. “In commemoration of the Day of New Jerusalem 2012, we took action to deliver the love of God the Mother to neighbors who are having a tough life,” said Pastor Shin, Joo-ho of the Church of God in Darkhan. “We are happy to help them spend a warm winter.”

That day, coal and firewood were delivered to each home by Pastor and members of the Church. “I was anxious about this winter because I was told that it would be especially cold this year. I feel relief and happy to receive coal and firewood,” said Odonchimeg who had three children.

As is well known, the World Mission Society Church of God believes that God the Mother exists as well as God the Father based on the Bible. The Church has 2,200 branch churches in 150 countries around the world. It is a large-scale church whose number of registered members is about 1.75 million.

The Church of God is well known for practicing the love of God the Mother as well as its missionary work based on the Bible. The Church has been conducting heartfelt activities including Blood Drive to Give Life Through the Love of the Passover, various disaster recovery activities such as global environmental protection campaigns, campaigns to help neighbors in need, and supporters’ activity. The devoted voluntary services of this Church, which has been carried out in every part of the globe, are greatly welcomed by the governments of each country and the U.N.

The Church of God said, “Just as children in danger need their mothers, so people, who are living among disasters, diseases, famines, economic depression and climate catastrophes, need the love of God the Mother in our days. We hope that humans will come to God the Mother to receive true peace and happiness, and furthermore, salvation.”
